En la Plaza de Platerías los artesanos que la dieron nombre se agrupaban mayormente, según el zócalo del edificio claustral llamado en este ala del Tesoro ya que fue almacén de los acopio de la Catedral. Es un trabajo de Rodriguez Gil de Ontañón (1.540) que abandona las enseñanzas platerescas de su maestro Juan de Alava a favor del renacentismo. La nota más extravagante se da en la torre rematada en pirámide escalonada.

Entre la Fachada del Tesoro y la Puerta de Platerías un pasadizo comunica con la Catedral y fue decorado con una gran vieira labrada, y popularmente se le conoce a este elemento como La Concha y tanto llamó la atención en su día que se creía que sujetaba la catedral

In the Plaza of the Silversmiths, the artisans that gave it its name would group mostly, according to the market wing of the cloistered building called it of the Treasure, since they would store from the provisions of the Cathedral. It is a work of Rodriguez Gil of Ontañon (circa 1,540), that abandons the plateresc training of his master Juan of Alava in favor of the renaissance. The most extravagant note is given in that the tower is scaled stair-like a pyramid.

Between the façade of the Treasury and the Gate of the Silversmiths, a hallway communicates with the Cathedral and was decorated with a great carved vieira , and popularly is known as The Shell; and it called so much attention in its time that it was believed that held the cathedral.
