Cáceres fue fundada en el año 29 aD.C.
Durante los reinados visigodos, pasó desapercibida, pero los
árabes la
convirtieron en una plaza fuerte con el nombre de Qasri. En el transcurso
del S. XII, los almohades la perdieron y recuperaron varias veces, mientras
construían torres junto a la Muralla. Cinco de estas torres, entre
ella, la
de Bujaco se conservan en el lado oeste. Tras la
Reconquista en el S. XIV
se registra una masiva llegada de hidalgos que llenan la ciudad de casas
nobles y fortalezas que compiten en belleza con los edificios religiosos.

Cáceres was founded in 29 B.C. but went
unnoticed under the visigothic reigns. The Muslims converted the city into
a fortress with the name of Qasri. During the period of the 12th century,
the Almohades lost and recovered the city several times, while constructing
battlements near the walls, five of which, including the Bujaco's one,
remain in the western side of the city. After the Reconquest in the 14th
century, there is a massive immigration of Hidalgos (Spanish lords) that
filled the city with noble and fortress like houses that contested in
beauty with the religious constructions.
